Originally opened in 1948 as a movie theater, the ROXY re-opened in August 2001 as a multi-purpose venue.
The ROXY has become a fan favorite for movie producers from around the world attending Muskogee’s BareBones International Independent Film and Music Festival each April. During that event the ROXY hosts movie producers and their works from as far away as Australia and seventeen other countries.
The Roxy has become a destination for tourists, movie historians and photographers seeking an eclectic location.
The ROXY stage has hosted performances of a Miss America (Shawntel Smith), Blues Hall Of Famer D.C. Minner, emerging super stars, The Swon Brothers and super star Carrie Underwood.
Famed activist and television executive Xernona Clayton delivered one of her most inspiring speeches from the ROXY stage and Oklahoma Movie Hall Of Fame recipients have made their acceptance speeches on it.
The Roxy Theater is owned by a City of Muskogee Public Trust Authority and governed by a Volunteer Board of Directors.
The Roxy relies on generous giving (both financial and volunteerism) to continue operations of this historic venue in the heart of Muskogee's downtown. All donations are tax-deductible.
The ROXY is in the process of beginning a capital campaign to renovate the second and third stories. Please continue supporting the ROXY's ongoing operations and Capital Campaign for Renovation.
